Loan scams are a serious problem in Malaysia. Scammers often impersonate licensed companies — sometimes even using another company's real licence number — and ask victims to pay a processing fee or deposit before the loan is disbursed. You shouldn't have to take our word for it — verify it yourself.

Warning signs of a scam

Anyone doing any of the following is not a responsible licensed lender:

  • Asking for an upfront fee, processing fee, or deposit before disbursing a loan
  • Claiming "guaranteed approval" or "no documents needed"
  • Charging interest above the statutory cap (18%/year unsecured, 12%/year secured)
  • Dealing purely through WhatsApp or social media with no verifiable physical office
  • Asking for your ATM card PIN and bank account access
